Opportunity Hunting
Government funding generally occurs in one of three processes. The most common process is a request for proposals or other “one time” official call, where a government agency provides a specific format and date for applicants to provide proposals for funding. The second most common process is funding that is open, where a government agency will make funding available until it is exhausted. The third and least common process is the unsolicited proposal process, where a government agency will accept and consider funding proposals in the absence of a formal call. Through the years, LNE Group has helped many companies and organizations access government funding through each of these processes.
LNE Group uncovers funding opportunities from many different sources, including public agency websites, subscription websites, and communications with public officials and agencies. Organizations of all sizes engage LNE Group to identify funding opportunities for their projects and to position them to successfully secure funding to support their projects.
LNE Group’s Opportunity Hunting services include the following:
- Providing a framework for targeted government agency funding strategies
- Working to identify the priority projects for which funding is sought
- Positioning priority projects for funding opportunities
- Developing white papers for agency consideration
- Monitoring a variety of sources to identify funding opportunities
- Matching the requirements of those funding opportunities with priority projects
- Providing written summaries of qualifying funding opportunities
- Submitting questions to funding authorities to clarify program requirements
LNE Group provides immediate notification when qualified funding opportunities are identified. Because we help develop our clients’ projects in the Opportunity Hunting phase of our work, clients often engage LNE Group for grant writing work once we present them a qualifying funding opportunity.
Relationship Development
Strong relationships with funding agencies and with those who can influence their funding decisions are the compliment to a well-ordered opportunity hunting strategy. LNE Group has helped many organizations enhance client visibility with key public officials and link to commercial partner companies and organizations. These collaborative links can be important for securing government support. Once engaged, LNE Group works to help make introductions to companies, organizations (academic and research institutions), and elected officials to create strategic partnerships that clients can leverage for government support and other economic or strategic advantages.
Commercial Partners
LNE Group works to identify partners with which our clients can: (1) work to secure funding, either directly or indirectly; and (2) engage on specific funding opportunities to close any identified gaps in resources and expertise. Government agencies often require collaboration to secure funding. Where collaboration is required, LNE Group works to select the optimum commercial partners for its clients’ projects.
Public Officials
LNE Group builds relationships with public officials with a focus to influence funding programs. We see this influence as a continuum: working with agency officials before a funding opportunity is released so that our clients’ needs are understood; and gaining support from Members of Congress after a funding opportunity is released so our clients’ projects are strategically positioned to secure funding.
